Slyypper's Outward Orientation

oh, but I've been busy!

It's been over two weeks since I've made a posting to this blog. My life took a temporary turn toward the theatre, but that's all finished now.

In the meantime, the more delightful and interesting readings I have had at other blogs, UU and otherwise, are these:

Sister Scorpion, via the Progressive Faith Blog-Con's weekly carnival of progressive religious blogs

PeaceBang getting incensed at BrideZillas

Chutney questioning the White Allies movement within the UU

Hope these provoke thoughts, if so, post a comment please!

I'm glad PeaceBang isn't my minister... what happened to faith, compassion, and forgiveness? She needs a vacation.

I think PeaceBang's point is that the individuals contacting her for weddings *don't* want her as a minister in any ongoing sense, nor do they have the least interest in or respect for UU-ism.

Hi Anonymous,

I haven't fully formed my opinions on the white allies movement within U.U. yet. I'm on a regional mailing list for the movement, and when I learn more, I'll blog about it. In the meantime, definitely go to the UUA website and read the preliminary committee report on the Fort Worth GA controversy: http://www.uua.org/TRUS/jan06/late-src_report.pdf. The report has a historical section about some of the youth movements within the U.U. past and present that I found enlightening to the present controversy.

Thanks for getting it, slyyper. Part of the reason I'm such a cranky wretch about fly-by-night Bridzeillas is because they threaten to vampire precious time and energy away from my congregation.

But of course I do need a vacation! Who doesn't?

Hey, the White Allies link is either broken or their site is down.

I have to agree with Chutney that it is a poorly named group. It immediately brought up visions of white supremacists.

yes, the UU White Allies site seems to be down. A pity. Will keep an eye on this and remove the link if the site continues to not connect. Thanks for the heads-up...
